With each passing year, Cape Cod gets a little more friendlier to dogs. There are plenty of dog friendly places to stay on the cape and there are even a few beaches that allow dogs during the summer on the outer cape. Now, we can add breweries to our dog friendly cape cod list of activities.

In just the last few years there have been a few new breweries that have opened on the cape. That’s in addition to the ones that were already here.

Some of these breweries offer beautiful views of the sand and bay, while others offer fun events throughout the year. Most will offer food either prepared on site or from a food truck.

There are also a couple of vineyards that call the cape their home and welcome guest to sample their wines.

Thankfully, many of these breweries, and vineyards on the Cape, also have dog friendly patios and gardens that will welcome you and your pup.

Dog Friendly Breweries in the Upper Cape Cod Region

1. Tree House Brewing Company, Sandwich, MA

The first dog friendly brewery on our list is the Tree House Brewing Company. They opened their doors on the Cape in the fall of 2021. You can read about their opening on their hello Sandwich page. This is one of four Tree House Brewing Company locations in Massachusetts.

Located on the beach in Sandwich, MA, the Tree House Brewing Company has indoor seating, plus patio and deck seating. All have views of the beach and Cape Cod Bay.

Unfortunately, the Brewery must meet occupancy limits required by the town which are much lower than what the actual space dictates. The town has also placed other restriction on them to ensure the beach side community can continue to be a great place to visit. You can read more about the restrictions at Boston.com

To deal with the restrictions the Tree House Brewery has a very strict reservation system. You need to reserve a time for everyone in your party ahead of time. No exceptions. You also need to pre-order your drinks. You can make your reservations and pre-order your drinks via their website.

In addition to draft and can beers they also offer: spirits, canned cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks and cold brew coffee.

Parking is limited. On busy days during the summer you may need to park off-site and take a shuttle to the location.

Dog Policy: Pet dogs are not allowed in their inside tasting room. But leashed and well-behaved dogs are allowed in the outdoor beer garden and on the deck. Service animals are always welcome to accompany guests.

2. Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery, East Falmouth, MA

Also located in the Upper Cape region is the Bad Martha’s Farmer’s Brewery. The original Bad Martha’s was founded on Martha’s Vineyard in 2013. You can read more about the original below. The East Falmouth location was opened in 2019.

Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery taproom is housed in a Napa Valley style Amish-built post and beam barn. There is a 15 to 30 – barrel brewing system on site.

The legend of bad Martha

Legend has it that after Bartholomew Gosnold landed on Martha’s Vineyard he was led by a mermaid to a field of lush island grapes. Those grapes become the secret ingredient for the Bad Martha Farmer’s Beer.
All of their craft beers are brewed with hand-picked wild grape leaves grown on Martha’s Vineyard.

The Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery offers a beer garden atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Visitors can order samples of beers and also buy brews by the glass or flight paddle.

For entertainment they offer games and live music on certain days. Check out their website to see what is on tap and the latest happenings.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved, friendly dogs allowed. They even hold special dog related events at times during the year.

3. Aquatic Brewing, Falmouth, MA

The Aquatic Brewing Company only offers inside seating, but it is dog friendly. This small brewery offers a varied selection of beers that are available in full and half pours.

The brewery is located just off of Main Street in Falmouth, in a building that is on a flag lot. This makes it harder to find.

They hold a number of events throughout the year including, Thursday Night trivia and 5k runs on Sundays. You can see their selection of beers and upcoming events on their website.

Dog Policy: Friendly, well-behaved, quiet, on-leash dogs will be allowed in the taproom

4. Barnstable Brewing, Hyannis, MA

The Barnstable Brewing is a family owned business that started as a hobby over 30 years ago. They specialize in fresh, hand-crafted beer that rotate based on availability. The outside patio is fenced in with a combination of Adirondack chairs and picnic tables.

Bar type games are available and food trucks visit the location.

This place is just down the road from the Melody Tent, a live music venue and across the parking lot is an ice cream parlor.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved, friendly dogs are allowed on the outside patio area and inside the taproom.

5. Cape Cod Beer, Hyannis, MA

These brew masters must really understand that people love their dogs. Whether it was done on purpose of just a happy coincidence, Cape Cod Bear is just .2 miles from the Barnstable Dog Park. Making it super easy to stop by with your tired pup after some off-leash playtime.

Cape Cod Beer offers a selection of beers and food from JP’s Twisted BBQ. They also understand that not everyone drinks beer. So, they also have cider, wine, cocktails, and beer cocktails. Plus, they offer special events throughout the year.

Dog Policy: Dogs must be friendly, on-leash & vaccinated. Dogs are allowed under the beer garden tent (when it is up) and in the Retail store (year-round).

6. Devil’s Purse Brewing, South Dennis, MA

Devil’s Purse Brewing Co. is a small craft brewery located in a warehouse area in South Dennis. They are dedicated to making handcrafted beers including a handline kolsch. There is no seating inside only stand up bar tables. Outside you will find picnic tables on fake grass under a tent. There are no inside bathrooms only Port-a-pottys.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome

Dog Friendly Brewery in the Lower Cape Cod Region

7. Hog Island Beer, Orleans, MA

Named after Hog Island in the Little Pleasant Bay, this friendly place is connected to the Old Jail House Tavern’s via the kitchen. This means they serve their own food to enjoy with your beer. Hog Island Beer is actually behind the tavern so you need to walk around to the back to get in. Live performances are offered throughout the year.

The outdoor area features picnic tables, some chairs and outdoor games like a giant connect four. The inside has an assortment of games including ping pong tables and a shuttle board table, but dogs are not allowed inside.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved leashed dogs are allowed in designated outside areas.

8. Provincetown Brewing, Provincetown, MA

Provincetown Brewing Co is located in the heart of Provincetown, just a short walk from the Pilgrim Monument. Founded on the progressive ideals that define Provincetown, PBC is passionate about brewing quality craft beer and evoking a sense of community.

Each PBC product highlights a cause or organization they care about with charities receiving a percentage of sales from each product sold.

Like some of the other brewery on this list they are just a 15 walk to the dog park. Perfect to tired out your pup before enjoying a beer.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved dogs on a leash are allowed on the outside patio.

9. Cisco Brewers, Nantucket, MA

Cisco Brewers is unique in that they not only brew craft beer, but they also produce wine and spirits. Which perfect if everyone in your group likes something different. There are also food trucks to grab a bit and live entertainment at times. Pretty much the whole place is outside and it is dog friendly.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved, friendly dog are allowed on the grounds.

10. Offshore Ale, Martha’s Vineyard, MA

The Offshore Ale is the island’s first and only brewpub. It offers nine beer taps that rotate seasonally through twenty or so styles. Food offering include pub-style foods like fish and chips and steamed mussels to tin crust pizzas and seafood entrees. They serve lunch and dinner daily.

Dog Policy: Dogs are allowed at designated ‘dog-friendly tables’ in the beer garden. They are seated on a first-come, first-serve basis (with or without dogs).

11. Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery, Martha’s Vineyard, MA

This is the original Bad Martha’s I mentioned earlier. This location was originally the Donaroma’s Nursey. Some of the flowers, trees and plantings are still here from that time. They have a 7-barrel brewing system so that the brew master can create fresh beer daily.

To accompany their brews, they offer soft pretzels, charcuterie platters, and artisan pizza. There are also games, and live music to complete the experience. Open April-December.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved, friendly dogs are allowed outside.

Dog Friendly Vineyards on the Cape

There are only two vineyards on the Cape that are dog friendly. Neither of them is very big like you would see in California or even in the Finger Lakes Wine region, but they do seem to offer a nice ambiance and a place to enjoy a glass of wine or do a taste test.

12. Cape Cod Winery, East Falmouth, MA

If chilling out next to a vineyard is your preferred way to spend some time, the Cape Cod Winery might be what you are looking for. Located in the upper cape, the vineyard is small and doesn’t offer expansive views, but the wine tasting area has a pleasing, relaxed feel to it. They offer a combination seating options ranging from barrel tables, to picnic tables and chairs arranged in groups. These groups are perfect for conversations. The wine tasting is done with flights or you can order a glass.

While they are dog friendly, the ground it less so. Plan to bring a beach towel or mat for your dog to lay comfortably.

Dog Policy: Dogs are allowed outside, during regular business hours. All dogs must be both dog and people friendly. All dogs must be on their leash at all times and at no time are dogs allowed on furniture. Pets are not permitted on our tours, tasting, main patio, upstairs deck, or during special events.

13. Truro Vineyard, North Truro, MA

The Truro Vineyard tasting area is set in a picturesque setting thanks to the vineyards that surround it. Located very close to route 6 in North Truro it is an easy trip if you are staying in Provincetown or anywhere on the outer cape.

The wine tasting area is outside at tables and chairs that are scattered around the main building. While some areas are located on grass there is a section that is gravel, so you may want to take a towel or portable dog bed with you for your pup.

In addition to wines, frozen wine drinks and spirits, you can also order food from the food trucks when present. If you are looking for a keepsake they also have a gift store.

Dog Policy: Well-behaved dogs are allowed outside in the tasting area.
