  1. Grooming– This is probably the biggest ongoing expense in owning a Goldendoodle. The cost to groom a doodle ranges from $60 to over $130 each time they go to the dog groomer. Goldendoodles require grooming every 6 to 8 weeks. That’s over a $1,000 a year in grooming costs alone.
  1. Daycare – Doodles are very social dogs. They like to be around people or other dogs. If you are not around during the day you will need to consider doggy day care or have a pet walker come in to be with your pet. But both options can be pricey.

1. IDOG Rescue

IDOG Rescue is a national rescue organization that is based in Houston, Texas. They have a network of volunteers that rescue and foster Goldendoodles, and other doodle types throughout the USA.

Their volunteers have working relationships with local shelters that inform them when a Goldendoodle enters a shelter. This allows the group to get the dogs out of a high-kill shelter in Texas and into a home quickly.

They also have a re-homing program that helps people who can no longer care for their doodle find a home for their dog.

Once rescued from a shelter, the dogs are placed in a foster home and evaluated for temperament. They are also health checked by a veterinarian and provided with needed medical care.

To find a Goldendoodle Rescue in Texas from IDOG follow their Facebook page. They list dogs that are coming into the program or available for adoption there.

Since they list all of their dogs on their Facebook page you will need to look for “TX” after the dog’s name in the Facebook post.

2. Doodle Rock Rescue

Doodle Rock Rescue (DRR) is a nonprofit rescue located in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. They specialize in rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing all types of doodles in need.

Their main focus is on helping dogs in the South Texas shelter. This is due to the high euthanasia rates at these shelters. However, they will accept dogs from all over the United States.

Although, they will accept dogs from all over the country they only adopt to people who live within 350 miles of Dallas, TX. This is due to their home visit requirements.

In addition to offering rescue services, DRR opened the CHEW Animal Clinic. The goal of this clinic is to provide high quality, affordable veterinarian care.

They serve local shelters, animal rescues groups and qualified families within the Dallas/Fort Worth area. CHEW also provides on-site group training to assist families and rescue partners with mild behavioral concerns.

3. Doodle Dandy Rescue

Doodle Dandy Rescue (DDR) is a nonprofit organization located in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. While based in Dallas County, they work with shelters all across Texas.

They have over 500 active volunteers that provide rescue and foster services. These volunteers help abandoned and abused Doodles in San Antonio, Houston, Austin and the DFW area.

However, they only adopt to people that live within a 5-hour drive of the main location outside of Dallas.

Once in foster care, dogs receive a medical assessment, treatment, and grooming as needed. Behavioral training is also provided as they transition to new homes. This is a 100% volunteer rescue that relies on the help and donations of people who care about dogs.

4. Mini Mutts Animal Rescue

Mini Mutts Animal Rescue specializes in all types of small dogs including the popular mini Goldendoodle and other mini doodle types. At the time of this writing they had a few mini doodle types dogs available for adoption and one mini bunny.

They are located in the Dallas Area. Dogs that come to this rescue are often abandoned on the streets, or left to die in a shelter. They work to rescue these dogs off the streets and place them in caring foster homes until they can find their forever homes.

Mini Mutts is unique in that they require a one-week trail visit where the dog stays with you to see if it’s a good fit before the adoption is finalized.

5. Animal Hope

Animal Hope began as in-house rescue at Animal Hospital Southwest. It has since grown to become much more than just an animal rescue. Dr. Michael Morris and Animal Hope have over forty-five years of experience rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing at-risk animals.

Animal Hope offers all types of dogs a chance to be rescued. They even had a few Goldendoodles available for adoption at the time of this writing.

6. Saving Hope

Saving Home is located in Fort Worth, TX. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for abandoned, neglected and abused dogs in Fort Worth and the surrounding areas. They are a volunteer and foster based non-profit organization.

They help all types of dogs including Goldendoodles and poodle-mix breeds. Saving Home is a large organization with over 200 dogs available for adoption at the time of this writing.

You may be able to find a Goldendoodle at a one of the small shelters or general rescues in Texas, but trying to find them is time consuming and difficult Rather than spend hours sifting through these websites, I suggest you use Petfinder.com.
